Origin: technology breakthrough driven by manufacturing and logistics pain points

In 2017, Professor Zhou Jie's team from Tsinghua's Computer Vision Lab received repeated requests from large enterprises: production lines could not reliably identify products under complex conditions, causing low efficiency and downtime risks. Meanwhile, smart warehousing was trapped in a hardware-first mindset where devices lacked effective perception. The team stepped out of the lab with one mission: let machines truly understand the world. With over a decade of accumulated algorithm expertise, Tsingh Technology was founded in Tsinghua Science Park. “Qing” represents the Tsinghua technology lineage; “Tong” represents the original intent to equip machines with precise vision. In the early stage of 2018, the team spent four months upgrading the first logistics customer’s in/outbound recognition process. Workload was reduced from two people for one day to one machine in real time, while error rate dropped from 3% to 0.1%. This became QingTong’s first industry landmark.
